The Senior Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Students and Youths, Comr. Jude Imagwe (MON) has granted a warm welcome to the editorial board of Campuslight Newspaper. While presenting the copy of the newsletter to Comr. Imagwe, the Editor of Campuslight Newspaper, Comr. Emmanuel Shebbs said that the campus tabloid was initiated with the spirit of disseminating information and establishing a nexus between the school managements and the campus students.
Comr. Shebbs noted that the major cause of crisis on campus is a situation where the students seem not to understand what is happening in the school. “When the students are left in the dark, they seem excommunicated. At such a time, they will be victims of rumour mongers and they will react to any negative information which rumours sell to them. That is why Campuslight Newspaper has come up to make sure that such information lacuna is been filled up and the students are been constantly enlightened with realities on campus and the school managements are also made to understand what the needs of the students are”.
In his reaction, Comr. Imagwe who was once the National President of National Association of Nigerian Students before his appointment noted that information is a necessary tool for academic development. He said that campus media is an initiative which every politician and school manager school embrace in order to make sure that the students are been carried along in school administration.
He further disclosed that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is one which is open to all formats of human welfare for Nigerian Students.
Comr. Imagwe said: “President Jonathan tries as much as possible to make sure that he creates a relationship between students and youths.
“This is first time that the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Students and Youths has been exalted to this level. What we had during the time of President Olusegun Obasanjo was a Personal Assistant. When President Goodluck Jonathan came, he said that we deserve a higher status and created the office of Senior Special Adviser.
“He has equally demonstrated his love for students and youths in the CONFAB. When president Obasanjo did his CONFAB I think it was just two persons that were asked to represent students and youths. But this time around President Jonathan gave six slots each for the students and youth groups and another six for special youth groups. He has really shown his passion for students and youth development and all we have to do is to support him in his efforts.

He encouraged campus journalists to continue in their good works in as much as they engage themselves with more professional skills in media and journalism.
