The Vice Chancellor University of Calabar, Prof. James Epoke has donated a brand new Sienna Land Jet to Unical’s Chapter of M
an O’War.
The official vehicle which was procured recently was formally handed over to the Corps by Prof. Epoke at the VC’s Administrative Quarters. While presenting the key, Prof. Epoke who was represented by the Director of Works, Engr. Alderton Ewa Ewa appreciated the role of Man O’War in the University and especially their coordination and orderliness. He urged the Corps to make use of the vehicle effectively and try as much as possible to avoid rough traffic movements. He said: “the management is happy about the activities of Man O’War, hence, the presentation of this vehicle. We are giving you the encouragement to perform your duties more effectively with the use of this vehicle. Don’t drive rough. Obey traffic rules as much as possible and be cautious of the fact that students and the public are watching you. Once again, congratulations.
The Chief Command Office (CCO) of Man O’War, Chief. Emeka Onu described the offer as a special New Year package. He said: “We are privileged to be the first students’ group to receive a New Year gift from the VC. We lack words to thank him for this gesture but one thing we assure him is that we will try our best to serve the students community, the management and the society and to be good ambassadors of this great institution.
Also around during the presentation were the Deputy Director of Works Engr. Benjamin Olo, Deputy Chief Security Mr. Jarlath Abang and the Cross River State Coordinator of Man O’War Dr. Bassey Oben. In his brief remark, Dr. Oben thanked Prof. Epoke for recognizing the force’s contribution in the University and promised partnership with the Unical Chapter of Man O’War in building the students’ commitment to good behaviour.
While receiving the Chief Commandant of Man O’War and his team who came to present the new vehicle to him that same day, the Dean of Students, Prof. Eyong Ubana Eyong congratulated the Corps cooperation and coordination. He promised more of management’s support to the corps in as much as they maintain good behaviour in the school.

Chief. Onu, who led the team promised to keep the good spirit alive. “We have a new Man O’War on board. We make use of intelligent security system. We are not rascals. We are more responsible this time around because we have been trained. We shall continue to perform our duties without fear or favour”, he concluded.
